New bench for Ironville village

With help from Derbyshire company, TDP

In December, a Futures colleague spoke to the parish warden in Ironville about a bus stop where we'd planted some fruit trees as part of our tree planting project.

The warden mentioned that there was nowhere for people to sit at the bus stop, which inspired our colleagues to do something to help. We soon took action researching chairs and benches, before finding a bench that fitted perfectly with our sustainability goals.

The bench from TDP, a Derbyshire based company, was made from 100% recycled UK plastic waste including thousands of bottle tops. The bench was weatherproof, rot proof and environmentally friendly which ticked all the boxes for the kind of product we wanted to purchase.

When we explained to TDP why we were buying the bench, they kindly gave us a discount as it was supporting the local community.
